- Sep 3 2007: Love your site, I recommend it often! :-)
I have two beloved half Bengal cats, neutered, but one isn't vaccinated: since I live right on coyote alley (by Kits beach), I keep them indoors, they have never been out but seem quite happy in my big appartment. For a little hunting fun, I often bring them feathers to play with, which I find on my walks... Can cats get diseases, and/or parasites from wild bird feathers (crows, seagulls)??? Also, they love to devour any insect in sight, can they somehow get sick from eating bugs like silverfish, moths, spiders or small centipedes?? May sound a little silly, but I've often wondered... and why do they stay away from ants, do these smell/taste bad? Thanks guys!
- Sep 2 2007: Our 3 year old shitzu ate a chicken breast the end of last week. 24 hours after she at the chicken bone, she has been unable to have a bowel movement. Should I take her to the vet? Can you give us a heads up to what might be wrong? She does drink water but her appetitie doesn't seem to be 100%. I just want to know all the scenarios we may be looking at. Thanks so much!

- Aug 21 2007: My nine year old shit-zuh has a problem with loose bowels. I have taken him to the vets twice now for this with negative results. He does not act sick at all and will play ball. IThis started after moving and he started drinking well water about six months ago. I have taken him and myself off of the well water in the last few weeks but there is no change.
Some days his bowels seem to firm up and then they become loose again. He went out this morning and had a bowel movement and came into the house and had a very small accident in the bathroom that was very loose and a clear spot with a red tint in it. I have tried various foods such as hamburger and chicken breast (roasted) and canned food (cesars) with no results so far. I need some help on this!
Thanking Yoou in Advance

- Jul 16 2007: My boxer had a mass cell tumor removed from her hind leg 3 times. It keeps returning with more tumors around the original one. When the doctor put her on predisone the 3rd time it was removed, the wound would not stay closed. It took 3 more surgerys to close it. After the 3rd surgery I took her off the predisone and that seemed to keep it from opening up again. Also her leg where the tumor was became weak after the 3rd surgery. She was only on the predisone for about 10 days after the 3rd surgery to remove the tumor. Now I'm worried because her hindquarters and legs are swelling up with water. This started about 9 days after the last surgery to close the wound. She eats good, looks good and alert. Could you shed some light on whats going on with the swelling. The tumor was also free floating to the touch. Not attached. Thank you for your time. Dee

- Jun 22 2007: We have a female mini dachshund about 4 years old. Today she threw up. Not really a big deal. Then tonight she acts a little mopy and moves slow like she doesn't feel well. We let her outside to do her thing and she sat there, I don't know if she did her business because, we left her alone. When she came back inside she drank alot and then right away threw up again, just the water she drank but nothing else. Can dogs just throw up and not feel well like people do?

- Jun 15 2007: a few days ago i found some kittens under my car along with mom and dad. i decided to take the kittens in, try to find them a home, ect. They look to be about 6-8 weeks old (i guess). I let mom in for a few days so she could feed them but she decided she just wanted to food that i was giving her and not the babies. At 1st I gave them cow milk cause thats all i had. 2 days later i got some kitten milk and wet cat food. they eat it and finally started pooping. now one of them is pooping diarreha a lot and throwing up. some throw up looks like spit and others have the food in them. is something wrong with it? is there something i can do about it? and this is the kitten that would rather play on the floor than be held or touched. the other 2 are fine. thanks

- May 31 2007: I have a six year old male mastiff that was just diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. I was wondering if Adequin would help him in any way and if there are any side effects. I'm giving him glucosamine and MSM and a homepathic pain medicine. Please advice and also if you have any suggestions on how I can make him feel better or what other treatment I can give him with no side effects, it would be greatly appreciated.

- Mar 20 2007: i just moved here recently & had to go to a different vet. I am not feeling warm & fuzzy about my new vet & i am considering changing vets even though this one is more convienent. My question: After telling the vet that my dog (Shelby) has hip displasure, she decided without me knowing what she was doing, to pull on Shelby's hind leg, when she heard a big pop, she stopped & said oh yes, she does. I was upset & said i told you she did. Now Shelby's leg is dragging so much that her nails are becoming really short. Could this have been a result of the vet pulling on her leg? And do i now need to worry about shelby bleeding from her nails being so short?
Thanks,
Teres
- Mar 18 2007: Hi, We were using a clipper on our himalayan cat and I knicked her skin. It scared us so bad because it just "split"- it hardly bled but I am worried she may need stitches. Its not cut down to the bone. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
- Mar 9 2007: I am a persian breeder and had just sold a kitten that has Cryotorchid. Not to my knowing. The buyers vet had told her that I should not be breeding my persians. I have been breeding for about 20 and have only come across this problem a handful of times. Is this a reason to stop my breeding program. My question is, how much research has been done on feline Cryptorchid. I've read it's very common in dogs. Is this hereditary? And is there a low risk of cancer in feline Cryptorchid. Thank You for your time. Dee

- Feb 26 2007: I have a 9 month old male shih tzo that won't eat. I have tried everyting I can think of. Cottage cheese mixed in puppy food, different puppy foods and brands, soft and canned also hard and still am having trouble. He has gotten sick a few times if we force him to eat, but he doesn't seem to act sick. He plays and runs around acts fine. I worry because his backbone and ribs seem to noticible to me. He crys when ever I leave and has vomitted a few times when stressed. Please help!! I love my puppies and don't want anything to happen to him. We have a female that is 8 months old also and they have been together since they were both about 2 months old. She seems to do fine, if anything over weight slightly(might be pregnant). They get the same food. WHAT DO I DO????
